Multiple Intelligences

In Art Coalition, art movement on June 27, 2009 at 10:01 pm

Howard Gardnerexplained that people are capable of being intelligent in eight different categories:

Linguistic
Math/Logical
Spatial
Kinesthetic
Musical/Rhythmic
Interpersonal
Intrapersonal
Naturalist

(Download this quiz to figure out your Multiple Intelligences)

All eight of these categories hold their own explanations and criteria for determination. However, in the grand scheme they are to be viewed as criteria for genius. According to Gardner, “genius” is a predominate aptitude in a particular direction for learning and adaptation. It is possible to possess multiple intelligences and therefore you would then be considered a “dynamic learner” or a Compound Genius, as we shall refer to such people here at Live.Art.Die.

Genius as described by Webster is:

2: a strong leaning or inclination : penchant

(There were other definitions but it is rather difficult to figure out how Mirriam or Webster got to those conclusions.)

Genius according to Live.Art.Die is a full understanding of your inclinations for learning. Being exceptionally aware of how we learn makes us better learners, but using what we learn in dynamic ways affects not only our own environments but the environments around us and the people included.

For this reason we are thankful for the dimensions that Art encompasses and allows for us to experiment in as many areas as possible. Recognize yourself as genius, perfect your intelligence, and inspire those around you to do the same; true multiplicity.

And Just What is it That You Actually Do Again?

Whoever has been asked this question, raise your hand. Now raise your hand again if you actually answer that question. (Kudos to you for going that extra mile.) As a new graduate who went to school for one thing, only to be dreadfully confused on what to do after recieving said degree, this question can be somewhat difficult to answer.

Same thing happens to us; exactly how does one describe Live.Art.Die to the non-Live.Art.Dieist? Let’s first examine the philosophy more closely.

1: Live.Art.Dieism: The Word

Though totally and completely made-up, it does come dangerously close to the word Deism which honestly has nothing to do with our theories at all. We are, in fact, NOT Live.Art.Deist; but Live.Art.Dieist!!!

As in: the belief that one who creates is an artist and what they create is art regardless of public opinion. A Live.Art.Dieist firmly believes in their own creations as being “art” and being “created,” therefore the Dieist then becomes the “artist,” distinguishing themselves from other artists, or people who refer to themselves as such.

2. Politics:

Just because a Live.Art.Dieist firmly supports their own work, does not mean that they don’t support the work of others. Actually, the support of fellow Live.Art.Dieist is always appreciated and encouraged; however, most Live.Art.Dieist do find it difficult to support work that they do not like, and actually we really don’t see anything wrong with that.

A Live.Art.Dieist will always uphold their own integrity by not only supporting the work of other Live.Art.Dieist but by being an active member of the global art community. While many people consider themselves artists, unfortunately, not everyone is a Live.Art.Dieist.

3. Moral Story to this Lesson

Live. Art. Die is a philosophy to live your life by. How simple!

So Apparently the World is Going Down?

In Art Coalition, Art Group, art movement, Uncategorized on May 15, 2009 at 9:46 pm

Pots, pans, dishes…. everything but the kitchen sink.

According to CNN.com, the world is coming to an end. Now, I ‘ve come to this conclusion not only from feature articles such as: “Killer mice endanger island albatrosses“; “Head banging parrot proves birds can dance”; and “Can Bristol Palin stop teens from having sex“. But also because anything the news says is true and therefore, the world must be on the brink of extinction if we are looking to the previously impregnated to give advice on abstinence.

Somehow, though, all of the nonsense going on in the world leads me to think about Live.Art.Die and our mission. One of the worst possible scenarios is that the world suddenly comes to an end, and this possibility made me think about what would happen to Live.Art.Die and the D.E.A.W.D.S.

If the world is coming to an end, the one thing I know we all can count on is wordpress still existing since the internet kind of doesn’t really exist in the first place.  That’s hopeful!

A Guiding Light…

In art movement, philosophy on May 15, 2009 at 9:29 pm

What is the future to an artist? Is it just longevity of age and life or could it be a perpetuation of the present and the past. Perhaps it is neither and only our memories that change and fluctuate with the passing of time.

There is a philosophy that our lives are documented by the memories that we create and through this process so we come to exist. If this is true than it can be said that an artist creates not only from their memories and ideas but also from their existance.

It is hoped that through support, Live.Art.Die will exist not only as a memory but as concrete evidence of our existence.

It is the job of the creative to inspire those who lack the ability to bring their dreams and ideas to the visual, mental, and articulate levels that others possess.

People just can’t find privacy on the internet

In Advisory, Art, Art Coalition, art movement, Non-Profit on May 12, 2009 at 2:52 am

These days and people are concerned with how to protect themselves from online scammers and predators. In response to this growing concern, L.A.D is introducing a privacy policy.

Announcing:

THE DIABOLIALLY EVIL ARTIST’S FOR WORLD DOMINATION SOCIETY’S EXCLUSIVITY POLICY

Under this new policy, live-art-dieist will remain exlusive members. Only members of Live.Art.Die may invite or recommend new members.

Through this policy, privacy will be administered to current members without the fear of uninvited predators preying upon the kind hearts of evil artists.

Also, any submissions for our members pages or other pages will be watermarked and authenticated to the ownership of the creator NOT to Live.Art.Die. Any submissions of any kind belong solely to the creator of the work and Live.Art.Die will never ask for anything that is not volunteered.

In detail: Since the internet can be accessed by anyone at any time, we will take whatever steps that we deem necessary to protect the intellectual property of others.

L’Art et Philosophie

In art movement on May 9, 2009 at 8:55 pm

What’s the proper recipe for an artist movement? After scouring the Internet for three hours it seems that there is no mutual agreement on what makes an art manifesto.

According to Wikipedia:

The Art manifesto has been a recurrent feature associated with the avant-garde in Modernism. Art manifestos are mostly extreme in their rhetoric and intended for shock value to achieve a revolutionary effect. They often address wider issues, such as the political system. Typical themes are the need for revolution, freedom (of expression) and the implied or overtly stated superiority of the writers over the status quo. The manifesto gives a means of expressing, publicising and recording ideas for the artist or art group—even if only one or two people write the words, it is mostly still attributed to the group name.

(Hmm….)

Sounds convincing, but, if this is the case then the art manifesto is nothing more than the over-cooked portion of a creatively-narcissistic artist’s personal philosophy; which, is all very well possible.

In fact, Live.Art.Die never hides that fact that we are indeed creatively narcissistic. Actually, that’s kind of the point. In order for one to support another in their creative and artistic endeavors, one must first be able to support themselves, so a little self-love is perfectly understandable. But, once you get yourself on your feet, don’t forget to spread some of that love around. Even evil artists need love too.

What’s the meaning behind words?

In Art, art movement, philosophy on May 6, 2009 at 11:49 pm

It’s been on my mind sometime now to explain the meaning behind the words Live.Art.Die. But the problem is that there is no clear cut definition of the phrase. Some explain it as a response to the used, abused, over-present, and over-annoying “Live.Love.Laugh.”

Maybe.
But the poblem with this idea is figuring out whether “Laugh” is realy the opposite of “Art”. Perhaps it is the opposite, and philosophically, all art is created to inspire the humorous and jovial in people.

Or.
Maybe it’s more like that feeling you get when coming in contact with really bad “art”, and this sensation makes you keel over with laughter. (evil, maniacal laughter I hope) As this response would definitely illicit the “opposite” from “art”.

Well…
Here is what I think:

Live.Art.Die is kind of like three phases in life.

1st – we live
2nd – there is art
3rd – we die
(unfortunately this last step is unavoidable)

Hopefully, when carried out in this order, any aspiring artist could become evil…maybe…
